My Work Experience
THE GREAT BRITISH MENU
MY ROLE- RUNNER
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER- SARAH EGLIN
i was a runner, for the 2024 season, Finals Week, The Great British Menu.

My responsibilities were based in the Judges Chamber. I was responsible for making sure the judges had everything they needed to keep them comfortable during filming; checking the room for continuity errors; I helped with camera equipment, feeding and taping cables; and I helped to move and set up equipment when moving to a different set. During my work experience I shadowed the executive Producer, and assistant producer, where I learnt their responsibilities and their role in the production.

It was so interesting working with a larger crew and seeing all what happens to produce such a well-respected competition show. I enhanced my confidence and initiative to be useful on set. I observed the behaviour of the crew on this professional production, and performed it myself, so now I know what is expected of you on a professional set and I have a good understanding of the right behaviour.

TOM KERRIDGE SECRETS OF THE PUB KITCHEN

MY ROLE - RUNNER
PRODUCER- RICHARD BOWRON

This shoot was an amazing opportunity because it allowed me to experience filming professionally in the studio and on location. During the week of filming, we changed location, from the studio. It was interesting to practice converting my tasks and responsibilities from what they were in the studio to in Tom Kerridge’s restaurant, on location.
Some of my tasks when on location were, communicating with the guests and staff in the restaurant on what and when we were filming, making sure the guests felt comfortable if they were in shot, organising lunch, and keeping the crew hydrated when filming in the hot kitchen.

KING ASPARAGUS- M&S ADVERT

MY ROLE- TALENT ASSISTANT
PODUCTION COMPANY- CHIEF PRODUCTIONS

This shoot was the most amazing opportunity because the amount of work and preparation for the one minute advert shown on TV is not justified. There was a crew of over 100 people. What i found most interesting was the collaboration between the brand and the production company. M&S focus each advert on one of their fresh produce promoting their ethical high quality produce from UK farmers. It was fascinating to learn about the farming process and all the different shots/ scenes CHIEF included to efficiently portray the produce. They used a drone, a timelapse of asparagus growing, interviews with Tom Kerridge and the farmers, and lots of B-Roll.
